Here are some reasons why we should face our problems instead of avoiding them.

Our world encourages us to avoid pain however possible. We take medicine when sniffles appear. Some of us escape our issues in numerous ways, from entertainment and travel to drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, these methods are only temporary and do not solve anything.

Sometimes, we avoid facing our emotional pain in the same way. We try to stuff it down and pretend that it does not exist. Our pain is still there, but avoiding it is like pretending that we do not have an elephant in our room. However, Jumbo cannot be silenced.

We can pretend that the huge pachyderm of pain does not exist even though the animal is taking up room in our lives and causes all kinds of problems. Just when we think the elephant is under control, he announces his presence with a loud trumpet.

Why We Should Stop Ignoring the Elephant In The Room

Issues do not go away no matter what we do

The longer we do not acknowledge Jumbo, the more damage is done in our lives. Relationships may go into limbo, and problems at work remain. An elephant will take up a lot of room, break our treasured keepsakes, and mess up the carpet.
