Here is why I think assumptions about aging and the reports that some generations and baby boomers are at war should be re-examined.

OK, confession time. I am a baby boomer; that is, I was born between 1946 and 1965. I flatter myself that I do not look it thanks to good genes and healthy living. I generally do not tell people my age because they might jump to the conclusion that I cannot do things I am capable of doing. And frankly, I am tired of people comparing us to other generations.

Some Myths About Baby Boomers

One troubling thing I saw during the beginning and the duration of the COVID pandemic was blatant discrimination against seniors. I saw organizations such as churches tell seniors to stay home like they were Typhoid Mary or something. Man, if there was any time I really needed human contact (even if it was masked and 6 feet apart), it was during that scary time. Here are some myths about boomers.

We are no longer capable

Really? I might be slower, but I can do everything most people do. I am thankful for social media and TV reality shows for featuring seniors in their 70s and 80s literally kicking up their heels and being mentally sharp like Betty White was. These achievers are not as rare as people may think.
