The woman described in Proverbs 31: 10–31 has long been held in high esteem in Christian circles for many years. However, there are depths that some people miss.

This virtuous woman is described as hard to find, but her worth is far greater than that of precious gems such as rubies. Why?

Characteristics of a Proverbs 31 Woman

Some Christian leaders promote the idea that women are homemakers whose sole purpose is to stay home, serve their husbands, and take care of their families. She submits to her husband no matter what. However, the woman described in Proverbs 31 is much more than the tradwife.

She is of noble character.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term “noble” as possessing outstanding qualities. Some characteristics are:

  • Fearing God.
  • Getting up early in the morning to make sure her family and others in the household are fed and clothed.
  • Working hard and succeeding in various ventures.
  • Has strength and dignity.
  • Is trustworthy.
  • Makes wise decisions.
  • Is financially responsible and makes successful investments.
