The number one red flag of fake Christianity.

As a boomer, the Christianity I came to know in my late teens was pretty standard. Love God and our neighbors, repent, pray, obey the law, and study the Bible.

These days, some Christian leaders are teaching additional practices such as declarations, positive affirmations, manifestations, mysticism, and the laws of attraction.

I notice one common theme in these practices, which is a red flag that these philosophies are unbiblical. These teachings focus on people having the power to manage their lives instead of turning to God and Jesus. These practices proclaim that people are “gods” with the power to change their destinies by speaking affirmations and declarations or manifesting their desires into reality.

This lie started in the Garden of Eden when the serpent tempted Eve to take the fruit from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil. That serpent said that when Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, their eyes would be opened, and she and Adam would become like God or, in other Bible translations, gods (Genesis 3:4).
