How Writers Can Handle Online Criticism

Here are some ways we can deal with criticism on online platforms.

Criticism is difficult to accept, even when it is meant to be constructive. I have been writing for various platforms for many years and have met more than my fair share of trolls, critics, or people who thought their comments would help me see how wrong I am. Fortunately, these encounters are rare, but they do happen.

When I started out, I was clueless as to how to handle critical posts. I learned what to do through trial and error — lots of error. I made plenty of mistakes that escalated the offender’s comments to verbal abuse in some cases. I do not claim to be an “expert” with a psychology background, but I do have experience. I want to share some tips on how to deal with the critics out there that have worked for me and are in line with my religious beliefs.

Here are some suggestions that can help you, my dear fellow writers, to help you avoid the La Brea Tar Pits critics sometimes open up in front of us.
