How We Can Become New Creations Through Christ
When we become believers, we get a new start in life. We are a brand new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) as beloved children of our Abba Father. The term Abba literally means “daddy.”
God gives us tools that help us to redefine ourselves:
Prayer
Prayer is an essential connection with God. Prayer can purify us from negative thoughts. We can start out feeling bad about ourselves and come away healed. God sends comfort and love as we talk to Him.
We can bask in that love and feel valued if we open ourselves to it. If we always wait until we are “good enough,” feeling “spiritual enough,” or are free from sin to contact God, we may never make that essential connection. We need to bring all those bad feelings to the foot of the cross and leave them there.
The Bible
He also gave us the comfort of the Bible, which shows that even strong men of God such as David make terrible mistakes. They had to grapple with their weaknesses and sins. In the Psalms, David shows heartfelt repentance and sorrow over his sins. God called him a man after His own heart.
